District Committee Adult Training

A district committee has four basic functions:

  1. Membership
  2. Finance
  3. Program
  4. Unit Service

To facilitate achieving district and council goals in these functional areas, a district subcommittee is formed and a subcommittee chairperson is appointed. In addition to these four basic functions, districts have the following subcommittees:

  • Training
  • Advacnement and Recognitions
  • Marketing and Promotions

Training for any specific position in a district committee is accomplished by on-the-job training as an apprentice or assistant, which also qualifies a volunteer to be a "next in line" candidate. Further training and mentoring on a position comes from the district chairperson. A great deal of the "learn my job" training is dependent upon an effective succession plan process in the district.

To earn the adult leader Trained strip, the adult volunteer must complete the following courses:

  • Youth Protection [OLC]
  • District Committee Training Workshop (held once a year and hosted by the council)
